Edging and mounting instructions

General information

  • Lenses available in Optim Group portfolio are suitable for all frame types: full rim, nylor, rimless according to limitation of each index or material.
  • Lenses edged in lab will be measured according to “Boxing system”.
  • The minimum value for lens height is 25mm.
  • Nupolar and Polarized lenses can be edged and mounted only in full rim frames.

Edging and mounting processes are the final stages in production flow and involves:

1. Checking and preparing the lenses for edging are following below check list:

  • Lenses are checked to correspond with information in job ticket and they are measured and centered with lensmeter;
  • Lenses centered should be checked if they fit perfectly with the graphic of the demolens printed on job ticket;
  • Lenses will be positioned in blocking machine and they will be fitted so optical center marked will match perfectly with blocker cross (monocular PD and pupilar heights are definitory data)
  • In the blocking machine, depending on coating, it will be applied an anti-slippery pad, an edging pad and the blocking chocker
  • Lenses blocked are now ready for edging

2. Edging and mounting the lenses into the frame:

  • In the edging machine, it will be checked material, frame type, bevel, polish
  • Lenses blocked will be positioned in the Edging machine one by one
  • Lenses edged will be cleaned and mounted into the frame
  • Frame will be adjusted and the lenses will be submitted to a final inspect to check if all parameters have been respected
